East Coast Managing Director Awarded Sarawak State Entrepreneur Of The Year 2011

Mr. Michael Tan, Managing Director of East Coast Freight Forwarders (S) Sdn Bhd was awarded the Sarawak State Entrepreneur of the Year 2011 Award (EOYS) by the Ministry Of Industrial Development Sarawak in association with Ernst & Young and the Sarawak Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The award was presented by Second Finance Minister Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh at SCCI’s 60th anniversary dinner held at the Riverside Majestic Hotel on 4th November 2011.
Launched in 2004, the Sarawak State Entrepreneur of the Year Awards is a prestigious Awards Programme held annually to honour and acknowledge exceptional entrepreneurial talent and leadership. Besides encouraging the growth of small and medium scale industries in Sarawak, the EOYS is aimed at recognizing the success of up and coming entrepreneurs, who through their ingenuity, ideas, resourcefulness, commitment and hard work, have built up their businesses and contributed to enlarging the State’s economy.
Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud in his speech read by Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh, called on entrepreneurs to embrace the “work smart” culture and be aggressive and move up the value chain by leveraging on innovation, technology and creativity. According to him, “Entrepreneurs must be bold enough to benchmark against the best and strive towards upgrading their performances continually in order to face competition globally. This is especially important in an increasingly competitive business environment, where growing expectations continue to be assessed against costs, quality, technology, efficiency and timeliness.”
