East Coast 28th Anniversary Dinner

East Coast’s staff dons their boldest colors for a night of fun, excitement and revelry at its Staff Annual dinner held on 15th June 2010. The dinner was held in recognition of the staff commitment and achievements over the past year as well as to mark the company’s 28th anniversary.

East Coast’s Managing Director, Mr Michael Tan welcomes all new staff who has joined the company in the year 2010 to the East Coast family. Touching on the company’s performance, Mr Michael Tan informed that even though the company recorded a 40% decline in sales during the global recession of 2009, the company had still ensured that bonuses are paid out. On a positive note, he added that in the first quarter of the year, there is a 50% sales increase, a trend which shall hopefully continues towards the end of the year.
In praising the staff on a job well done, he also stressed that in order to maintain East Coast’s position as one of the leading logistics provider in Kuching , it has to take seriously the challenges of a globalized economy. According to him, “we need to have a strong, knowledgeable, skilful and disciplined workforce with a progressive attitude, staff who possess the desire to constantly improve themselves, is customer-focused and who can demonstrate unswerving commitment and dedication in their job.”

This year’s annual dinner saw the inaugural crowning of Mr & Miss East Coast which was won by Mr Kamaruddin Arip and Miss Josephine Jemat from the Ocean Freight and Air Freight Division respectively. The MD Challenge Trophy went to the Domestic Division who gave an impressive imitation of the late Michael Jackson. The East Coast Idol title went to Mr Beseri Bin Pii from the Air Freight Division.
